Whether electric or not, a car must be envious. Offering services close to its thermal brothers is therefore the number 1 asset of the Peugeot e-2008. Unfortunately, this electric SUV isn’t all good stuff up its sleeve.
In real life, don’t expect it to hit the 320 km (WLTP cycle) advertised by the sales brochure. According to our measurements, this electric SUV will be able in the best case, either in town, to cover 269 km maximum before being dead battery. It is logically less on the road (228 km) and much worse on the motorway (160 km) area, it should be remembered where a motorized car is less at ease.

Long recharge
That said, if the e-2008 offers a range of action slightly greater than that of its cousin DS3 Crossback E-Tense with which it notably shares the 50 kWh lithium-ion battery (of which 46.3 are useful), its autonomy does not allows it to be among the best of its kind. It will also be necessary to think about investing in a Wallbox to recharge it because on a domestic socket, the full takes time (33h according to our measurements). Too bad because side approval, this e-2008 does not demerit.
Good job
No noise, brisk linear acceleration but not overpowering (especially with the Eco mode which restricts power to 60kW / 82 hp), the lion’s electric SUV nevertheless allows you to enjoy driving sensations far from unpleasant. At its wheel, we find the qualities of a 2008, namely an effective compromise between handling and comfort, even if the specific Panhard bar rear axle used (to make room for the battery modules) reacts sharply on large fittings. But not enough to make a drama of it.
Difficult braking
The braking dosage is more open to criticism. Like its little sister e-208, the left pedal is not perfect with a lack of bite on the attack giving the feeling that we are not going to be able to stop in time. Of course, by activating mode “B” (for Brake) on the gear lever, the regenerative braking force can be increased (which makes it possible to recover more energy and thus creates a greater engine braking effect) but the whole does not is not perfect. The e-2008 also has another flaw … shared with its thermal brethren.
Ergonomics still questionable
Some drivers, depending on the driving position adopted, will find it difficult to read the information displayed on the computer screen, which may simply be hidden by the upper part of the steering wheel. Peugeot ergonomists neglected this detail, which affects the handling of the machine. To this concern is added another with under the central screen the buttons like piano key certainly pretty but impossible to use without taking your eyes off the road. But not sure that all potential customers hold it against the Peugeot electric SUV so much for the rest.
But an obvious versatility
In addition to its dashboard with a spectacular design and a presentation that is “rich”, the e-2008 offers, thanks to its generous size, more space than enough for a small family both at the rear than the trunk side. It remains to meditate on the usage / finance aspect. About 14% more expensive than the e-208 with an equivalent finish, the machine certainly offers more space but is not more versatile in use. For that, there are the 2008 thermics much cheaper and not just a little: a PureTech 130 with the EAT8 gearbox costs 19% less (taking into account the CO2 bonus) with comparable equipment!
