Launched in October 2019, the electric Peugeot 208 – or Peugeot e-208 – competes with the Renault ZOE in the city car segment. Developed from the e-CMP platform, the e-208 is the lion brand’s first “new generation” electric car.
Design of the Peugeot e-208
Almost identical to the thermal versions, the Peugeot e-208 is distinguished by some subtle details that distinguish it. On the program: several “e-208” markings integrated into the bodywork and, of course, the absence of an exhaust pipe.
In terms of size, the electric 208 has an overall length of 4.05 m for a width on the wheels of 1.77 m and a height of 1.43 m.
Engine and performance of the Peugeot e-208
As for the engine, we find on board the electric 208 the same mechanics as that offered on board the DS 3 Crossback E-Tense. Placed at the front, the electric motor delivers up to 100 kW of maximum power (136 hp) and 260 Nm of torque.
In terms of performance, the Peugeot e-208 claims up to 150 km/h top speed and a 0 to 100 km/h in 8.1 seconds. The 0 to 50 km/h is crossed in 2.8 seconds while the 1000 meters standing start is achieved in 30.6 seconds.
- 0 – 50 km/h – 2.8 s
- 0 – 100 km/h – 8.1 s
- 1000 m standing start 30.6 s
Batteries and recharging of the e-208
Announcing 340 kilometers of autonomy in the WLTP cycle, or 450 km with the old NEDC, the Peugeot e-208 uses a battery with a total capacity of 50 kWh (46 kWh useful).
Installed under the floor, it does not encroach on the loading volume which remains identical to that offered on the 208 thermals (311 liters).
The battery is guaranteed for 8 years, 160,000 km for 70% of its charge capacity.
Charging the Peugeot e-208
In terms of recharging, the Peugeot e-208 combines an on-board charger of 7 kW with a rapid charging system in Combo CCS capable of tolerating up to 100 kW (DC, direct current). As an option, it is possible to opt for an on-board charger of 11 kW (AC, three-phase alternating current).
- Green’Up 3.7 kW socket 16 h
- Single-phase wall box 7.4 kW 8 h
- Three-phase wall box 11 kW 5h15
- 100 kW Combo fast terminal 80% of the load in 30 min.
Finishes and equipment of the e-208
The Peugeot e-208 is available in four trim levels – Active, Allure, GT Line and GT – whose equipment is listed below.
In terms of options, this Peugeot e-208 offers the same choices as its thermal cousins. Available from February 2020, the 11 kW charger is billed at 300 euros.

Competition
Peugeot e-208 is a great car for the city. However, this car is small, compared to JAC iEV7S. While you can drive from point A to point B with e-208, you can do the same but comfortably with JAC iEV7S. Huge driving range, premium quality SUV and of course – less expensive. That’s right, JAC iEV7S costs at least 5 000 € less than the basic e-208. Moreover, JAC is equipped with the premium electronics.
