Currently, anyone who wants to can buy the Mini 100% electric model: Cooper SE. The Mini Electric is equipped with 184 hp and a driving distance of up to 270 km. Let’s see what Mini Electric has to offer us.
About Mini Electric
The Mini has introduced its first 100% electric model, the Cooper SE. This version is based on the legendary Mini Cooper concept of 2017. The look is almost indistinguishable, but the fully electric Mini Electric has been available to customers since March 2020.
Faithful to the Mini brand style with its curves and puffy eyes, the car comes with a 3-door configuration. It still stands out from the Mini fuel-powered models with its design. In the electric car, we will find the same closed grille, the same wheels and the same yellow details (optional on the grille, mirror covers and rims) as on other Mini models.
We’ll find innovation inside. The model boasts an exclusive interior, including a 5.5-inch digital dashboard. The boot volume remains unchanged. Compared to the “classic” version: 211 liters, and even 731 liters when the rear seat is folded down. The total weight of the electric car is 1,365 kg, or 145 kg more than the Mini Cooper S 3.
The UK manufacturer also announces a modified chassis, four driving modes and configurable braking energy recovery.
BMW i3S motor
In the engine section we find the same engine as the BMW i3S. Moreover, this gives the electric car 184 hp (137 kW) of power and 270 Nm of torque to the front wheels. From 0 to 100 km/h, the Mini Electric accelerates in 7.3 seconds and reaches a top speed of 150 km/h.
Distance up to 270 km
The Cooper SE model has a 32.6 kWh lithium-ion battery that can cover a distance of 235 to 270 kilometers. By comparison, the JAC iEV7S can cover a distance of 350 km, while the Peugeot e-208 (134 hp, 260 Nm of torque, 45 kWh with battery) is about 275 km.
The Mini Electric can be charged from a home outlet (charging cable included as standard), three-phase, and from public charging stations. The mini announces that the battery can be charged up to 80% with a maximum current of 11 kW in two hours and up to 100% in three and a half hours. Charging at a maximum current of 50 kW will charge the battery from 0 to 80% in 35 minutes.
Finally, the equipment compartment in the car includes LED projectors, dual-zone air conditioners and GPS navigation.
Mini Electric price and competitor
Manufactured at the Oxford plant in the UK, the Mini Cooper SE will be available for € 32,900 . While the price isn’t that huge, the JAC iEV7S wins this little battle for quality and price.
The JAC iEV7S has more space inside and all the high-end electronics. Come on a test drive to see the best that the JAC iEV7S has to offer right now.
